Ollie vs Acting Pal

Why pick Ollie
It tracks what you've learned
Acting Pal's memorization mode replaces your words with first letters, and Ollie has that too. Its App Store listing mentions tracking progress on scripts. Test me adds a score for each hidden line and a per-line record, which we didn't find described.
Your cast, live
Castmates join a group session from their own devices and Ollie reads any part nobody's covering. Acting Pal lets you share scenes and record lines for one another, and runs a free WhatsApp reader community. We didn't find a live shared session.
Whole scripts, on any screen
Ollie runs in a browser on your phone, tablet or laptop. It takes the full script as a PDF, Word or text file. Acting Pal is iOS and Android, with web in development, and its plan covers up to 120 pages of sides a month.
Free to start
Ollie is free to start. Acting Pal is $9.99 a month, subject to territory, after a 3-day free trial.

What Acting Pal does well
- Self-tape and native iOS and Android apps today. Self-tape and iOS are coming soon to Ollie.
- A large library: 106 AI voices across 20 accents.
- Scripts you create in the app stay on your device by default, and a timed non-stop mode for places speech recognition struggles.
What it costs
Acting Pal is a flat $9.99 a month, subject to territory, after a 3-day free trial, with sides capped at 120 pages a month. It's simple and easy to budget.
Ollie is free to start, and its standard voices run in your browser with no per-minute charge. Free accounts have limits, including one active script and three scored Test me runs a week. We haven't published paid plan prices yet.
Privacy
Acting Pal keeps scripts you create in the app on your device by default. Uploads go to third-party services it says run in zero-retention mode, and it says it won't train AI models on your scripts or audio. Ollie stores scripts in your account so they follow you between devices, sends them to AI providers to parse them, and says it doesn't use scripts or voice to train AI models. Its standard voices are generated in your browser, while premium voices and speech transcription use cloud providers.
For the details, read Ollie's privacy policy and Acting Pal's.
See for yourself
The best way to judge a scene partner is to run a scene. Try one in Ollie's demo, with no sign-up. If you're about to learn a full part, our guide to learning a whole play will help whichever app you use.
Try a scene now, then bring your script.
Upload your script and Ollie reads every other part out loud, waits for you to say your lines, and keeps track of the ones you've really learned. Ollie is in an invite-only beta, and the demo needs no sign-up.
